Located on Collins Street in Melbourne CBD, Contax Optica Group is a 100% Australian-owned and independently operated optometry practice with more than 40 years of experience in eye care, contact lenses, and custom spectacles.

Established on Collins Street in 1977, Contax has built its reputation through personalised customer service, experienced staff, referrals, and returning customers. The practice provides a wide range of options and customised solutions to suit their customers’ unique eye care needs.

Contax Optica Group works with patients across a broad range of eye care and vision needs, from standard eye examinations and prescription spectacles through to complex contact lens requirements.

The practice has extensive experience fitting specialty contact lenses, including rigid gas permeable (RGP), toric, multifocal, mini scleral, and lenses for keratoconus and grafted corneas. Its team also provides personalised multifocal spectacles and custom lens solutions, with a qualified optical dispenser and mechanic available to assist with fitting and adjustments.

Meet the Team

Marcello Cerchiara

Optical Dispenser / Mechanic

Marcello has worked in the optical industry since 1986 and has extensive experience in optical dispensing, lens fitting, and spectacle fabrication. With qualifications from RMIT, he brings decades of experience in optical lens technology and provides personalised advice on lenses, frames, fit, and lifestyle requirements.

Paul Georgos

Optometrist

Paul graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1988 and has practised in Melbourne CBD for more than 25 years, joining Contax Optica in 2004. He has a particular interest in contact lens fitting, specialising in keratoconus, gas permeable, mini scleral, multifocal lenses, and complex prescriptions.

Nikki Hall

Optometrist

Nikki graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Optometry in 2020 and has experience across regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne. She practises full-scope optometry, with interests in ocular disease management, contact lenses, and myopia control. She is therapeutically endorsed and has experience co-managing conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis.

Belinda De Vos

Practice Manager

Belinda is a qualified optical technician and dispenser who has worked in the optical industry since 1992. She joined Contax Optica in 1999 and has been part of the team ever since. Alongside managing the practice, she assists with contact lens patients and provides tuition for hard and soft contact lens wearers.

Jean

Optical Reception

Jean has worked in the optical industry since 1987 and joined Contax Optica in 2001. In addition to reception duties, she assists patients with the insertion and removal of both hard and soft contact lenses.

Olivia

Accounts / Reception

Olivia manages accounts and marketing at Contax Optica while also supporting the reception team. With experience in the optical industry and a passion for optics, she plays an important role in supporting both the practice and its patients.

Yoko

Optical Reception

Originally from Fukuoka, Japan, Yoko moved to Australia in 2000 and joined Contax Optica in 2002. She has a particular role in assisting Japanese clients with their contact lens needs and has been based at the practice's city office since 2018.

Tracey

Optical Reception

Tracey is the newest member of the Contax Optica team. She brings extensive experience from the corporate sector, where she worked as a personal assistant, and now supports the practice through her reception role.
